Geology: JASPER a form of chalcedony, is an opaque, impure variety of silica, of virtually any color stemming from the mineral content of the original sediments or ash. Patterns arise during the consolidation process forming flow and depositional patterns in the original silica rich sediment or volcanic ash. Jasper can be modified by the diffusion of minerals along discontinuities providing the appearance of vegetative growth, i.e., dendritic. The original materials are often fractured and/or distorted, after deposition, into myriad beautiful patterns which are to be later filled with other colorful minerals.

Desert Rose is a Gypsum formation, made up of gypsum and barite. This stunning and unusual formation is usually found in desert like conditions, and is formed as a result of the evaporation of water. As water evaporates, the dissolved gypsum becomes oversaturated and starts to precipitate out of the solution. As it does, it forms crystals within cavities or between layers of sediment. These crystals grow slowly over time, layer by layer, creating the characteristic rosette or flower-like structure.

Geology: LAPIS LAZULI has been collected from mines in the Badakhshan province of Afghanistan for over 6,000 years and there are sources that are found as far east as in the region around Lake Baikal in Siberia. Trade in the stone is ancient enough for lapis jewelry to have been found at Predynastic Egyptian and ancient Sumerian sites. Lapis lazuli is a rock, largely formed from the mineral lazurite. The main component of lapis lazuli is lazurite (25% to 40%), a feldspathoid silicate mineral. Most lapis lazuli also contains calcite, sodalite, and pyrite.
