Geology: JASPER a form of chalcedony, is an opaque, impure variety of silica, of virtually any color stemming from the mineral content of the original sediments or ash. Jasper can be modified by the diffusion of minerals along discontinuities providing the appearance of vegetative growth, i.e., dendritic. The original materials are often fractured and/or distorted, after deposition, into myriad beautiful patterns which are to be later filled with other colorful minerals.

Desert Rose is a Gypsum formation, made up of gypsum and barite. This stunning and unusual formation is usually found in desert like conditions, and is formed as a result of the evaporation of water. As water evaporates, the dissolved gypsum becomes oversaturated and starts to precipitate out of the solution. As it does, it forms crystals within cavities or between layers of sediment. These crystals grow slowly over time, layer by layer, creating the characteristic rosette or flower-like structure.
